Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Micro & Nano Materials Interface Science was established with the approval of Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Department in December 2019. The laboratory relies on the superior disciplines of metallurgy, materials and medicine of Central South University, and combines the regional characteristics of Hunan Province. Through the integration of multiple disciplines, three characteristic research directions including micro-nano material interface bionics, biomolecular interface recognition, and supramolecular interface assembly have been formed, which is an important training base for high-level talents.
           

The laboratory currently has 32 fixed personnel, including 19 professors and 6 associate professors. The team is composed by the winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (1 person), overseas high-level talents (2 persons), and Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of Ministry of Education of China ( 4 persons), the National Ten Thousand Talents Program (1 person), the Hunan Province Hundred Talents Program (3 persons), and the winners of the Hunan Outstanding Youth Fund (4 persons). The professional structure of personnel is reasonable, covering applied chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, chemical engineering, organic chemistry, biomedicine and other disciplines.

In the past three years, the laboratory has undertaken 25 projects including National Key Research and Development Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China Key Program, and National Natural Science Foundation of China General Program, with a total funding of more than RMB 20 million. It has published 270 academic papers in top international journals such as JACS and Angew. About 48 national invention patents were authorized, and 5 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards were awarded.
